MRI Scan in Kumasi

MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) uses a strong magnet and radio waves, with no X-rays, to produce highly detailed images of the brain, spine, joints and soft tissues. It is the examination of choice for back pain with nerve symptoms, knee and shoulder injuries, brain and pituitary conditions, and many gynaecological and prostate problems. At Totalite Health in Kumasi, MRI scans are reported by experienced radiologists and results are issued within 24 hours.

MRI examinations we perform: brain and pituitary MRI, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine MRI, knee, shoulder, hip and ankle MRI, abdomen and pelvis MRI, MRCP (bile ducts), prostate MRI, MR angiography and whole-body screening.

How to prepare: tell us before your appointment if you have a pacemaker, cochlear implant, metal fragments or surgical clips. Remove all jewellery, watches and cards. Most scans take 20 to 45 minutes; you will lie still inside the scanner and can communicate with the radiographer throughout.

Results: reports are issued within 24 hours and sent to you and your doctor; urgent findings are communicated immediately.

Where to get an MRI scan: MRI is available at our Asokwa centre behind Kumasi City Mall. Book by phone on 0596 764 430, or bring your doctor's request form and walk in.
